Ladies and Gentlemen, the 44th President of the United States

I'm going to be SO late to class for this, and I look like I've just had a terrible allergy attack, but it's so WORTH IT. I've been blubbering like an idiot all morning - I'd like to say "and I don't know why", but that would be an outright lie. My palms were sweaty just waiting for the oath to come.

I don't expect to see the world change in the blink of an eye. No man can do that. But the difference lies in the fact that after eight years, our president is not someone we stand united against, but united behind.

I know, the cynics say they're just words, but from the standpoint of a writer, words matter. Words change the tides. Words make the difference between marvel and mundanity. Actions are performed, but words are etched in stone. The power of one person's words has time and again proved to be the grain of sand that tips the scale.
