Top 3 tonight - those spotlights are terribly harsh, I'd hate being under them. Performing under any lights to begin with is torture.
In any case, next week is the finale and this week is our 300th episode. That long already, imagine that! Paula's dress is...furry.
Judges' Choice
Danny Gokey ("Dance Little Sister") - His dancing is more awkward than usual tonight, but maybe that's just me. The song seems hectic and disorganized at times, but the scatting with the sax player was fun. It's strange but interesting and entertaining, just like Paula, who picked it.
Kris Allen ("Apologize") - I. LOVE. THIS. SONG. I thought the arrangement would be stale because at first it sounded so much like the original. I like the fact that he doesn't go into his falsetto as much as the original. I agre with Kara that I would've liked more originality, but as Simon pointed out, Kara did pick the song.
Adam Lambert ("One") - I LOVE THIS SONG TOO!!! I was a huge fan when Elliott performed it. Adam's adding his usual drama to it. I think I back Adam for the top spot, because he's such a performer. I like his slowed down version a lot.
Carrie Underwood is such a sweetie - I miss having a whole episode for Idol Gives Back. I love that Carrie's the figurehead for this.
Contestants' Choice
Danny Gokey ("You Are So Beautiful") - This song always makes me think of Alfafa, I can't help it. The softness is nice, but it's slightly boring. It's a clean vocal performance - I wasn't quite so amazed though. It was masterful but not necessary entertaining.
Kris Allen ("Heartless) - I can't believe this. I swear - Kanye West. Seriously? THe robot song? Now THIS is the Kris we know, changing things up so dramatically. THIS has entertainment value and vocal prowess. I agree that it's better than the original because I'm not a fan of Kanye.
Adam Lambert ("Crying") - The song Constantine Maroulis tried out with. The background singer is getting carried away and drowning Adam out in the chorus, but again, Adam wins on performance hands down.
