American Idol Top 9

Well, here we are - I didn't get to post my play-by-play last week, it was so hectic, but suffice it to say that I was direly disappointed by Matt Giraud being in the bottom. I'm going to vote this week.

Anyway - any song that's popular on iTunes. This might be tough, because most people get their music the illegal way.

Anoop Desai - I can't believe he's singing Usher. "Caught Up" is just so cheesy, and his face looks more disgusted than sexy. This just isn't the vibe I like from him. It just didn't feel like a credible performance. Simon is cringing as Randy's speaking. He's losing his charm now - he's getting cocky.

Megan Joy - There was nothing interesting about this performance of "Turn Your Lights Down Low", and I agree with the judges that it was getting irritating. Like sheep.

Danny Gokey - "What Hurts The Most" is one of the best songs I've ever heard, it really gets to me, and I'm glad Go-Go-Gokey got his hands on it before anyone else. The violin intro is really dramatic, and it really works for me. This song choice was great, and the part where the music stops for "so close" right before a big percussion crescendo was AWESOME.

Allison Iraheta - Busting out the guitar and chipped black nailpolish. Of COURSE she's singing No Doubt. Everyone who wants to be edgy busts out some old school No Doubt. Her hair looks ridiculous, like she's been electrocuted, and it's distracting. Sort of like a deranged anime character. Her diction this week is LIGHTYEARS better than previous weeks, though. I wish she would have done the bridge, and ended differently. The arrangement was strange and just not outstanding. Kara agrees on the distracting part right away.

Scott MacIntyre - "Just The Way You Are" is a very Scott-esque song to sing. Not surprising, as far as theme goes. The notes fall a bit flat, in all honesty. The judges like it, and it was decent, but not outstanding.

Matt Giraud - "You Found Me" is a GREAT song. He shouldn't need to prove himself after last week. The beginning was a litle flat, but I like his positioning. There's a blond girl a couple rows away from him staring him like he's the Second Coming. He's never going to live up to last week, and we need to vote for him.

Lil Rounds - "I Surrender" is a very Kelly song, and Kelly managed to sing it even though she was TERRIBLY sick. Lil sounds nasally, and is wearing a terrible wig. I love Simon's song suggestions this week. "Apologize" and "One" are on my list of favorites. Lil's daughters like Randy, obviously.

Adam Lambert - Adam, our Broadway sexpot, is going to play us that funky music. White boy. This song is so AWKWARD, and to use Simon-terms, it seemed indulgent. His riffs are always on point, though, so I can't fault him for it.

Kris Allen - One of my favorite songs ever, "Ain't No Sunshine". And Kris can play the piano too? Talk about a Renaissance man. His performances always come off as very sweet and sincere, and this week, he's good at creating drama as well. I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE. The vibe sort of reminds me of "Fallin'" by Alicia Keys.
