Politics aside, I have so much respect for Senator John McCain. I never would have voted for him, but I really, truly feel for him. My heart honestly goes out for him, and I have the deepest sympathy for him. He, too, had a vision for the country - just not the vision that the majority of American people shared in quite the same way.
I've never felt an election feel so human - so many tears of joy, so many hopes. I'm possibly being naive, but I feel that Barack Obama and John McCain love this country equally. John McCain conceded gracefully because throughout this journey, it has been clear that he loves America - and I never use the word "love" lightly - and loves it enough to accept what they've stated about what they want for the country's future. Whatever I have to say about his campaigning, his policy, this much is true: John McCain is a respectable man, and deserves success and support. I will admit, I do not disagree with him on everything.
Senator McCain, you had a good run - keep doing your thing, your country still needs you and has a place for you.
That being said - whether it be full of Leinenkugel's, Jack Daniels, 7-Up, Starbucks or V8 - raise a glass to the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama! Yes we can, and yes we DID!
