Sorry for the lack of blogs last week - the wind was insane, so the power knocked out my cable right when it was time to watch the performance show. Anyway - MATT GIRAUD FOR THE SAAAAAAVE!
Anoop and Lil deserved to go last week. Lil, because she's so generic and has developped a terrible attitude. Anoop because even though he's talented, he's growing an ego as well.
Lil Rounds - Speaking of attitude, this performance of "I'm Every Woman" is generic and sloppy. My aunt has performed this song better. This performance is just so blank and all over the place. Her weave is ridiculous. The runs at the end were completely off. I liked Kara's comment - she's been every woman but herself. But in any case, sloppy and generic. AAAAND Simon prettty much agrees with me.
Kris Allen - Well, Kris would like you to know that the ominous "she"...works hard for the money. I LOVE the folksy/Latin sound of this arrangement. I think this rendition would have the chops to be as iconic as David Cook's "Always Be My Baby". Paula gives him chops for shopping in the women's department. Anyway, I love the bashful expression and posture he has. He seems like such a sweetie.
Danny Gokey - I totally saw him singing "September." This song is usually suicide on this show, but the switches in phrasing and his usual charm made it plausible. Better than plausible. Kara's witty today - "It's like asking Simon to wear a plaid shirt."
Allison Iraheta - The leather with sparkly stuff is very S&M. Or Madonna. This arrangement is kinda sloppy, but far better than Lil's performance and definitely original. The arrangement isn't her fault - she has the most raw talent.
Adam Lambert - Stressing that Adam's already done disco, we're going with some "Saturday Night Fever". I have a soft spot for his eyes, and I like his voice so much better when he's not screaming. He definitely knows how to ham it up for the camera. I like how he can transition through different registers.
Matt Giraud - This rendition of Stayin' Alive is all over the place. I'm actually not sure how I feel about it. It's not terrible - it didn't take much liberty with anything either, though. I guess the high notes are on point. The rest of the notes however? Not so much. You let me down this week. I fall upon the thorns of life. I bleed.
Anoop Desai - Facial Hair. Uh....anyway. His vocals are fine, but he's just trying to hard to be something he's not.
