David Cook~
First Song: He definitely has the charisma down. It's emotive without being overdramatic. And the growl is hot, haha. It just feels like you can't make the usual comments about him "making it his own" because well, the song's SUPPOSED to sound that way. And dude - Simon said it right after I typed it. I feel special.
Second Song: Oh! It's the "I'm here in the fields" song - I never knew the title, haha. It doesn't have the same oomph as his usual performance, STILL, because I like this one much more. He has a MUCH better scream than Chris Daughtry. Anyways, I liked this one, but it didn't have the samemagic as I usually notice from him when I hear a song I recognize, having him knock it down, then rebuild it better than the original.
Syesha Mercado~
First Song: Okay, during her intro interview with Ryan, she seemed so fake and simpering. Good Lord. And Proud Mary? Eh. I liked the sudden shift in tempo, but when she started with the faster paced "left a good job" part, her voice just kinda went ick. And throwing her head back at the very end was just too much. I agreed with Simon that it was a bad, shrieky version.
Second Song: I sense a recurring theme in her songs tonight. Rivers. Anyway, I didn't like it. It hardly even sounded like singing at the beginning. It was way too rough for me, I don't like it. I agree with Randy. "HELL'S KITCHEN IS GONNA START!"
Jason Castro~
First Song: "It's a song By Bob Marley. Go figure." It was strange hearing "I Shot the Sheriff" from him, even though it should fit. It just wasn't that American Idol-ish, and there wasn't enough focus on his pretty eyes. I think that they show's pretty much put him on the chopping block by not showing his money shot. Oh! And Simon used the word "atrocious" for I think the first time this season! "I was thinkin' BOB MARLEY!"
Second Song: This is much better, it shows a lot more of Jason's personality, even though he doesn't have the same vocal chops as the others. And more facial shots.
David Archuleta~
First Song: "I always sing it in my room. To myself." I really love the bongo drums and the sexy red lights. They brought out the sexy for little Archie! It was just sort of a standard-ish performance, but standard for him is Uh-mazing. And the "Beautiful Girls", Sean Kingston reference was ADORABLE. Do you hear those screams? I woke up my grandma just to tell her about it. I'm going to remember that forever.
Second Song: His little intro video was cute - he sounded like he was giving a book report. And "Love Me Tender" really was romantic - he really played up his appeal to the ladies tonight. I hope they don't pull a Tamyra or a Chris Daughtry on him.
