August Rush

Sunday, I was at my uncle's house watching DVD's when he suggested we watch August Rush - I'd wanted to watch it for a pretty long time, but never got around to it, so I said sure.

I wasn't disappointed.

I think I was so amazed by the movie because it embodied everything I like to think about music - it just constantly sent shivers up my spine because the story was so powerful, and it was one of those things where it acknowledges you probably think it's unrealistic, as unrealistic as the fact that August says he can 'hear' the music his parents gave him.

Freddie Highmore is such a talented kid - those big round eyes are just so emotionally manipulative, the feelings they evoke when he acts are just so strong, it's unbelievable. Plus, he was a perfect mix of Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The storytelling was amazing, the way everything started from August/Evan's perspective, and all out of chronological order, like we were discovering things along with the characters instead of being told the entire story ahead of time. I don't wanna ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen it, hehe.

"I believe in music the way some people believe in fairytales..."
